There may be plenty of glitz and the glamour involved in BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, but with celebrity guests, a well-respected judging panel and presenters Claudia Winkleman and Tess Daly on the payroll, how much do the professional dancers earn? Anton du Beke, 53, has danced in every season of the beloved show, starring in all 17 series. Here’s a look at the ballroom pro’s net worth.
Kent-born Anton du Beke is estimated to be worth £8 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.
It’s thought that professional dancers on Strictly earn around £30,000 per season.
However, as one of the longer serving professionals, it’s thought Anton du Beke would earn more – around £35,000 for the season.
But the BBC regular may even be on a higher wage, with Heart Radio recently reporting that his Strictly pay cheque was closer to the £50,000 mark – which could explain how he’s making his millions.
In 2012 it was revealed that dancers were furious in a BBC salary row, as they received pay rises of just £500 while judges took away a £20,000 pay boost.
Meanwhile celebrities are given £25,000 simply for signing up, which often requires them to step away from their day job for the duration of the series due to the busy schedules.
This then rises to £40,000 if they manage to stay in the competition through to October.
However, it’s not just the trophy that the famous faces are looking to take home – anyone that makes it into the quarter finals will see their fee rise again to £60,000, while semi-finalists earn £75,000.
The winner of the season takes away a whopping £100,000 prize, a huge sum compared to the professional dancers’ pay package.
Anton has previously been partnered with Ann Widdecombe, Kate Garraway and Judy Murray.
The outspoken dancer has often had low scores and challenged the judges on the live shows when facing their criticism.
However he struck lucky with EastEnders’ Honey, played by Emma Barton, in 2019.
In week nine at Blackpool, dancing an American Smooth, du Beke scored his first ever 10s from the judges.
